Eros, Sorcery and Curses
In the “Eros, Sorcery and Curses” walk we are transported to the neighborhoods of the Acropolis and Thissio, on a route that will explore the relationship between love and magic.
We will talk about wedding customs in Ancient Athens, the gods and goddesses of love, and delve into the magical world of antiquity, discovering curses, binding spells, and other magical practices. Through stories of well-known courtesans, we will learn about their impact on the art, politics, and society of the time. The walk will lead us to the Western Hills of the Acropolis (Nymphes', Muses' and Pnyx Hill) to reveal their secrets.
With this cultural walk, visitors will experience a unique immersion in ancient Greek culture and discover the secrets, values, and flaws of human nature that shaped the world of that era.
Route: Sanctuary of the Nymph (near the Odeon of Herodes Atticus) - Western Hills - Church of Agia Marina in Thissio - Deme of Kollytos (Apostolou Pavlou str)
