Curate-D Seminar

Brief report regarding the seminar "Welcoming and Serving People with Dementia and Their Caregivers in Cultural Organizations"

On Friday, December 13th, a highly successful multiplier event was held in a hall of the Herakleidon Museum. The event, organized by the Herakleidon Museum as part of its participation in the Erasmus+ Project "Curate-D: A Game-Based Methodology for Empowering Dementia-Friendly Communities and Ensuring Equal Access to Culture for People with Dementia," focused on "Welcoming and Serving People with Dementia and Their Caregivers in Cultural Organizations."

The seminar was attended by twenty-six individuals, including healthcare and cultural sector workers, caregivers of people with dementia, and students from related fields. During the seminar, the speaker, Roxani Giannou, a mental health specialist, provided a brief presentation of the methodological guide and the caregiver training guide developed as part of the project. Through playful methods (e.g., solving a crossword puzzle or playing "fill in the phrase"), she helped participants engage with concepts and practices related to addressing the needs of people with dementia in cultural organizations.

Additionally, excerpts from the serious game were presented, and instructions were given on how to install it for those interested in exploring it further on their own. After the seminar, the participants, along with the speaker and the museum staff, discussed and explored methods and ways to both utilize the project's results and enrich them with new, joint actions.
