The Herakleidon Museum celebrates the European Heritage Days
The HERAKLEIDON MUSEUM invites you to the exhibition-project “Canvas Encounters - Encounters on Canvas” and the events surrounding it, during the three-day celebration of the European Heritage Days: Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, and Sunday 29th September 2024.
On these three days, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Mrs. Vasiliki Papakosta from the Museum’s Education Department will present the exhibition and offer educational workshops for families starting at 12:00 PM and lasting 90 minutes. Additionally, curator Mrs. I. Tzahili will meet with the public and discuss the exhibition.
Regarding the content of the educational workshops:
Educational program for families
A unique program that brings families into contact with fabrics, encouraging them to discover their texture, the memories they carry, and the stories they hide.
Presentation of Weaving Art and Techniques
On Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, members of the “Tsakonia Archive” will present the rich tradition of weaving art and share with us the techniques and methods that have been used for centuries.
The HERAKLEIDON MUSEUM, which participates annually in the European Heritage Days celebrations, is particularly pleased and proud to announce the award from the Council of Europe and the European Commission for the story “The Canvas of Encounters - Encounters on the Canvas,” which is part of an overall project.
The award is given as part of the European Heritage Days Stories 2024, co-organized by the European Commission and the Council of Europe. For 2024, more than 500 stories were submitted from all over Europe. The Herakleidon Museum participated in the competition for the first time, reaching the top with an outstanding story narrated by curator Mrs. Iris Tzahili, archaeologist, and emeritus professor of prehistoric archaeology at the University of Crete.
